| Program description |
We do not have a formal, free standing ACHD fellowship training program, but have 2 current fellows (one second year, one planned for 2007) who have Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency training, for whom we have arranged a joint fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and Internal Medicine Cardiology. Applicants must be acceptable to both fellowship boards. Fellows spend 2 clinical years each in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, with continuity clinic in ACHD clinic throughout the entire five years, as well as ample opportunities for imaging, cath, intervention, EP etc in ACHD patients. The 5th year is a research year in an area of interest in ACHD. |

Research is required according to the American Board of Pediatrics requirements. We only have 2 current fellows, one 1st year, one 2nd, so we don’t have the research part as a track record yet, but we do have ample opportunities in clinical, imaging and probably cath and EP. Basic opportunities are available at the medical school and in the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics department based on fellows talents and interests. |
